Are you getting ready to remodel?  What about just upgrades to a kitchen or bathroom? If you answered yes to either question, then you have undoubtedly given some thought to fixtures and faucets. We here at Ray May Plumbing would like to discuss some topics that should be considered before making a purchase. Our hope is this will aid you in plumbing material and installation choices. The result should be a hassle-free home improvement that you love for years to come.

Faucets & Fixtures: The Most Important Factor When Choosing

First, we will take a look at what many see as the most crucial factor when choosing a faucet, tub, sink, or toilet. This, of course, would be cost. We all know the adage, “you get what you pay for.” For the most part, this is true, but there are exceptions. Moen, Delta, American Standard, Gerber, and Kohler all offer well-made products at competitive pricing. Even higher-end lines like Elkay, Grohe, Hans Grohe, California Faucets, and Toto have items with a lower price point without sacrificing the quality for which they are known.

Speaking of quality, let’s touch on that.  When the staff here at Ray May Plumbing is assisting a customer, we stress the quality of the product and quality of the installation. We feel that by offering the first-rate installation along with well-made products, the outcome should last for many years. It is our belief here at Ray May Plumbing that above standard material coupled with top-notch workmanship are the most important aspects of plumbing work.

Although we understand the need to keep costs to a minimum, we do not feel quality should be neglected to achieve this goal. Think about it this way: if you have inferior material put in using poor craftsmanship, it is almost sure that it will need to be repaired or replaced sooner and more frequently. This will then cause the cost of the job to increase, canceling out any initial savings you previously had.

In our next article, we will discuss some other factors in choosing plumbing faucets and fixtures, such as features and colors.
